Release of new - HERDSA GUIDE – Enhancing Online Engagement in Higher Education

We are excited to announce the release of the HERDSA GUIDE – Enhancing Online Engagement in Higher Education. It’s anticipated the guide will be seminal to higher education, including those involved in teaching, designing, and delivering online education, in providing practical strategies for enhancing online student engagement including:
Teaching academics or instructors, looking for a lens through which to plan online teaching and learning;
Instructional or educational designers who are assisting instructors in planning for active student online engagement;
Teaching teams seeking a tool by which to audit their virtual classrooms and/ or for critical reflection;
Program teams auditing online engagement from a programmatic perspective; and
Faculty or central teaching and learning units who need a reference point.
Below is also a quote from Associate Professor Brown and a testimonial from Professor Sally Kift.

“With many in the higher education sector seeking practical applications, strategies, and suggestions for supporting engagement in online environments, this Guide is not only timely but well overdue as a key resource to support, inform, inspire practice, and allow for a deeper reflection, exploration, and appreciation of online student engagement.” – Associate Professor Alice Brown (School of Education, University of Southern Queensland)

“As the massive shift to online learning shows no sign of waning, this Guide makes a critical and timely contribution to our sector’s practice and framing of all aspects of online engagement, including its measurement. Authored by renowned experts, it empowers educators with effective techniques and practical tools to engage students in their online learning, acknowledging how fundamentally different online engagement is to that in traditional face-to-face environments.” - Professor Sally Kift (President, Australian Learning & Teaching Fellows; Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow, Victoria University)
