Advancing Scholarship and Research in Higher Education (ASRHE)

You are here

HERDSA's journal Advancing Scholarship and Research in Higher Education (ASRHE) was established in 2020. It is a diamond open access journal (no publication charges for authors, no access charges for readers).

ASRHE publishes articles that advance scholarly practices and contribute theoretical, methodological and substantive knowledge relevant to higher education teaching. While building on academic traditions and values, the journal aims to be innovative and break new ground in advancing scholarship and research.

  • ASRHE has two article categories: Research in Progress aims at facilitating shared and follow-up research, indicating emerging contributions to knowledge; Research Complete articles have a traditional focus on contributions to knowledge.
  • ASRHE welcomes innovative ways of writing: Authors are encouraged to present their work in emerging formats, such as moving images or sound scapes.
  • ASRHE uses an open, group-based review process: Researchers at different experience levels form review groups. Submissions are discussed in review group meetings led by a member of the editorial team.

Open source recognition and indexing

ASRHE aspires to be listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and, as a first step, to be indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index.
