HERDSA WEBINAR
Thursday 13th October 2022 1.00-2.00PM
The aim of the webinar is to introduce participants to the valuable HERDSA Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) online learning modules. The modules introduce new scholars to the role and value of SoTL in an academic’s professional learning plan and remind experienced scholars of the process of designing and implementing a SoTL project. In the webinar, participants will be briefly guided through an overview of each of the five modules and discuss the breadth of approaches to engaging with the modules as individuals, communities of practice, and as part of formal learning and teaching accreditation programs. The modules can be accessed individually by HERDSA members, and an institutional license is available for purchase.
Presented by Associate Professor Deb Clarke, Lead author, HERDSA SoTL modules

EOI for a new HASS (Humanities, Arts and Social Science) SIG (Special Interest Group)
The objective of this proposed HASS SIG will be to explore through inquiry, conversation and collaboration the position and potential of HASS education in Australian tertiary settings. This proposed SIG will provide a platform for academics and scholars interested in SoTL within HASS area to exchange insights, engage in discussion, and share experiences while exploring new ways to prepare future HASS graduates for the world beyond university. This SIG will also create multiple opportunities for collaborations between all its members
It is common to hear doubts about the worthiness, applicability and viability of HASS degrees. In the Australian context, the previous federal government’s decision to double the cost of HASS degrees in order to steer students to other disciplines is evidence that HASS degrees are devalued. This proposed SIG will also explore the ways to foster the conversation within and beyond the academia and promote a social discourse in order to change the quality of contemporary debate regarding the HASS disciplines.
Please express your interest to be part of this SIG by completing this form https://forms.gle/kscmLxihNjNr6Dp37 by October 31, 2022. For any further enquiry please contact Dr Nira Rahman on nira.rahman@unimelb.edu.au
