HERDSA 2024: Talking about Teaching and Learning (TATAL) pre-conference workshop
Starting online from 24th June with a F2F workshop on 8th July 2024

The HERDSA conference in Adelaide this July precedes workshops, including the blended/flipped TATAL (Talking About Teaching and Learning) workshop starting online on June 24th. Open to new and existing HERDSA members, it's designed for those reflecting on teaching, seeking support in writing a Teaching Philosophy. The flipped workshop initiates collaborative reflection on teaching and student learning. Participants can continue the experience post-conference, developing a teaching portfolio and reflecting further in face-to-face or virtual meetings. TATAL is a collaborative space for academic teachers to reflect on teaching and student learning. It supports reflective practice and the development of teaching philosophies. TATAL participation has resulted in 21 individuals becoming HERDSA Fellows, with the anticipation of more TATALers joining the new HERDSA Fellows in Adelaide.

Comedy show about artificial intelligence and the future of work
Melbourne, Friday 17 May 8:15pm, Improv Conspiracy Theatre (near Parliament Station)

"You won’t lose your job to AI, you’ll lose your job to someone using AI.”

It’s a cool phrase but there’s actually a whole lot more going on for jobs and AI right now. To better navigate our shared future careers in a world where computers can diagnose cancer, drive cars, and definitely not perform improv comedy, come along to The Peer Revue – Australia’s best (only?) research-based improv comedy show.

This month our guest is Dr Franz Strich, Deputy Director of the Centre for AI and the Future of Business and a Senior Lecturer at Deakin University. His research explores the intersection of AI and the future of work, focusing on the significant impact AI has on professional identities. His works provide a nuanced analysis of both the potentials and perils of AI, emphasising the importance of awareness regarding its dark sides.

Come watch Franz talk, ask him some questions, and watch a cast of talented improvisers turn it all into comedy gold. We often have a good contingent of HERDSA people come along, and you’ll see one of them on stage.

Uni casuals and HDR students email the show’s producer Phill Dawson for free tickets – p.dawson@deakin.edu.au

The 2024 ANZAHPE Conference
1-4 July 2024

ANZAHPE's 2024 Annual Conference will be held in the Festival State of South Australia from the 1st to the 4th of July 2024.
ANZAHPE conferences have always been a beacon of scholarly stimulation and social engagement for health professional educators in Australia, New Zealand, and increasingly the Asia-Pacific region. As our Association has grown, so too has our membership and conference delegate numbers. In 2024, we will welcome attendees from across the globe. The conference will feature keynote speakers who are leaders in their field and they will inspire us to consider ways we can contribute to cultivating innovation as they have done.
