Congratulations: HERDSA 2024 Conference

At the HERDSA Executive Committee (meeting held on 26th July 2024), unreserved congratulations were expressed to HERDSA Conference Organising Committee, delegates, sponsors, volunteers, the Adelaide Conference centre staff, Expert Events, and everyone who contributed to making it the resounding success it was. There was a record number of 583 registrants, 480 onsite and 93 virtual. Reviewing the conference survey feedback there was tremendous praise for all aspects of the conference, from the quality of the keynote and delegate presentations, highly relevant themes and sub-themes, to the food, networking opportunities (branch and special interest group meetings) and the overall supportive ethos, demonstrating HERDSA values of Connection, Inclusion, Inquiry, Integrity and Quality.

Delegates were offered several formats from showcases, roundtables and posters) to choose from. The pre-conference workshops were once again well subscribed to. Most popular amongst delegates were the well-attended round table sessions and the usual buddies breakfast session attended by over 200 new members and their buddies. The dinner was fully booked and the annual HERDSA Awards were presented. This year saw a record number of eight members awarded HERDSA Fellowships, six research grants and numerous awards. The Lifetime Member award was made to Prof Shelda Debowski for her service and leadership contributions to HERDSA over many years.
