Two Social Sciences Week comedy shows on generational differences and Gough Whitlam
6 September

Comedy show The Peer Revue has two special shows for Social Sciences Week that may interest Melbourne-based HERDSA members:

Both shows are produced by Professor Phill Dawson (Deakin University) and feature a diverse cast of talented improvisers who will turn the guests' smart stuff into comedic gold.

It's a face to face show, and tickets are available on the links for each show. We usually get a good crowd of HERDSA members and friends of HERDSA. Uni casuals and HDR students can email Phill for free tickets: p.dawson@deakin.edu.au

Webinar - Supporting students to meet learning outcomes: generative AI and assessment in enabling education
15 September 2023

You are invited to join the upcoming NAEEA webinar, ‘Supporting students to meet learning outcomes: generative AI and assessment in enabling education’.

The primary purpose of assessment is to provide evidence that students are meeting learning outcomes by promoting student learning. Generative AI (genAI) tools such as ChatGPT have raised concerns about students using such tools to complete assessment tasks, potentially compromising the assurance that assessment tasks are providing an indication of student learning. At the same time, however, genAI presents educators with an opportunity to reflect on their assessment practices, and possibilities for preparing students in an age of genAI to understand and engage with these tools ethically and authentically.

Join the conversation on assessment design and genAI in enabling education.

Date: 15 September 2023
Time: 11.00am (AWST)

The webinar is provided by the National Association of Enabling Educators.
