HERSDA Online Engagement SiG – Showcase of presentations related to ‘online engagement in higher education’ from the HERDSA2024
Wednesday 14th August, 2024 12:00-1:30pm AEST (Queensland time)
Join us for a snapshot of presentations from the HERDSA2024 Conference focussed on topics related to online engagement in higher education. Short lightning talks will include: teaching strategies to support online student engagement (Cohen et al, 2024); five conditions to enhance online engagement (Lawrence et al, 204), the potential use of humour to support student online engagement (Pryce et al, 2024); The implications of increased equity and access for online student engagement (Brown et al, 2024), Online student support and engagement: Predictors of academic excellence (Fisher, et al., 2024); Course improvement by design (Chalmers et al., 2024); Immersive online learning: Evaluating the impact of 360o learning spaces on the student experience in an undergraduate medical science course -(Polly et al., 2024); Enhancing student success and retention: Leveraging learning analytics and student engagement strategies (Enright et al., 2024) ….and more. ASRHE welcomes submission of research articles based on HERDSA Conference presentations
The recent HERDSA Conference in Adelaide featured numerous strong presentations based on valuable research. The editors of ASRHE (Advancing Scholarship and Research in Higher Education, asrhe.org) welcome submission of research articles based on those presentations. Publication in a journal allows showcasing the research in more detail and reaches a world-wide audience.

Technology Enhanced Learning Accreditation Standards (TELAS) Workshops
August 1 and 2 (10am – 1.30pm) - via Zoom
The Technology Enhanced Learning Accreditation Standards (TELAS) are a set of internationally benchmarked standards designed to assess the quality of online learning, particularly in relation to the tertiary sector. They provide institutions with the means to assess and evaluate the affordances of their online learning environments and thereby guide quality enhancements. Our workshop supports your knowledge of the standards and is the first step to becoming a certified TELAS reviewer. No matter what your role is at your institution, you will find these workshops informative and interactive.
