Position vacant: Professional Practice Fellow - Teaching & Learning (Wellington)

The Occupational and Aviation Medicine (OAM), which is a part of the University of Otago (Wellington) Department of Medicine, has an opportunity for an outstanding individual to join them as a Professional Practice Fellow in Educational Technology / Instructional Design for the support of their post-graduate international distance programmes.
The Role
This position presents a unique opportunity to develop, design and support distance teaching, learning and assessment developments to ensure OAM programmes are efficient and of the highest quality. You will provide expert knowledge and support of tertiary education methods and eLearning for other teaching staff in the team, most of whom are not on-campus.
This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) permanent position.

Work Skill Development for WIL and Employability: 3rd Webinar in advance of I-MELT

Join presenters from the Universities of New South Wales and Wollongong in a webinar on ‘Using the Work Skill Development Framework - Examples of Practice’

Reading the abstracts of these in advance will be a great warm-up for the webinar.
The Work Skill Development (WSD) Framework, developed By Dr Sue Bandaranaike at James Cook University, has been used since 2009 for WIL contexts as varied as Geography & Engineering, Business and Nursing. This webinar will focus on practical applications of the WSD to make explicit the thinking processes and language used in workplaces and for enhancing student and graduate employment prospects.
This is the third webinar on the series on the various uses of the Models of Engaged Learning and Teaching (www.melt.edu.au).

Call for applications for appointment to the role of external (Consumer) NASRHP Board Director

The National Alliance of Self Regulating Health Professions (NASRHP) is the national peak body representing self regulating health professions in Australia. NASRHP works to represent the interests of the self regulating health professions.
Australian peak bodies of self regulating allied health professions wishing to join NASRHP must meet benchmark standards for regulation and accreditation of practitioners within that profession. NASRHP standards have been closely modelled on AHPRA standards.
NASRHP seeks expressions of interest from external (both consumer and non-consumer) representatives to be appointed to the NASRHP Board of Directors.
To be eligible for appointment as an external Director, you must not currently be, or have previously been, a health practitioner in a self regulating health profession. This may include a consumer Director. The term of appointment to the Board may be for a period of up to two years, with eligibility for reappointment.

Developing your Philosophy of Teaching Statement

Whether you are interested in developing your philosophy of teaching statement as part of the HERDSA Portfolio, or because you wish to understand more about your own approach to teaching and learning. This session is for you.
In this 2-hour workshop we take you through understanding more about your philosophy of teaching and take you through the process of writing your statement. You will leave the workshop with a rough outline, which you can then fill out and refine in your own time.

Vale Paul Ramsden
Paul Ramsden died recently after suffering a pulmonary embolism. HERDSA members would have known Paul was a respected scholar in higher education teaching and learning who was a regular contributor to Higher Education Research and Development. He remains one of the journals most highly cited higher education researchers, particularly for his seminal book Learning to Teach in Higher Education. Paul made an equally significant contribution to higher education policy through the introduction of the Course Experience Questionnaire, a survey he adapted from his PhD. research at Lancaster University.
