Job: Professional Development Consultant @ USQ

The Professional Learning Consultant will work collaboratively to develop, implement and review programs, resources and services aimed at supporting the development and learning needs of academics in regard to their learning and teaching practice. 

The position of Professional Learning Consultant works in a highly motivated, vibrant and collaborative team environment. The incumbent will possess a PhD in higher education or a related field, have a good understanding of pedagogy and the processes of professional and organisational development as they relate to learning and teaching. 

The incumbent will be an exceptional communicator and relationship builder keen to make a genuine difference to learning and teaching at USQ.

National Workshops: Graduate Communication Skills: High Impact Practices for Academic Leaders

The 2016 series of workshops are targeted at Academic Program Leaders responsible for the development and demonstration of graduate level oral and written communication skills. The workshops are designed to disseminate the findings of the project What works best: Strengthening the evidence base for oral and written communication skills and to stimulate discussion around the demonstration of graduate communication skills for different programs. The workshops will identify high impact practices that are sustainable and scalable at the program level. Workshops are led by Associate Professor Sophie Arkoudis (The University of Melbourne) and Dr Anne Harris (Edith Cowan University) with input from colleagues at participating institutions.

Public Seminar Series at University of Queensland

The Institute for Teaching and Learning Innovation (ITaLI) at The University of Queensland will host a number of respected scholars in the coming weeks as part of the ITaLI Public Seminar Series.

Dr Thomas Carey
How can we develop and sustain more exemplary teaching and learning (and be recognised for doing so)?
In this interactive public seminar Dr Carey will present and then discuss five hypotheses on how to develop and demonstrate exemplary teaching and learning.

Professor Alison Cook-Sather
Respect, Reciprocity, and Shared Responsibility in Context: How to Build a Student-Faculty Pedagogical Partnership Program in Your Institution 
This seminar will give you the opportunity to explore basic theory behind, examples of, and approaches to developing student-academic pedagogical partnership programs focused on analyses and development of classroom practice, curricular design or redesign, and assessment in institutions of higher education.

Professor Mick Healey
Designing and Integrating Research and Inquiry Activities into the Curriculum 
Professor Mick Healey will run this interactive workshop which aims to explore practical ways of designing and incorporating research and inquiry activities into courses.

The National Students As Partners Roundtable is also being hosted by UQ once again.
