Public Engagement Masterclass: training academics how to plan, pitch and write stories for a non-academic audience.  27 September 2016. Registrations close Friday 2 September

Do you want your research to be part of bigger conversations in the public domain? Learn how to pitch, plan and write stories for a non-academic audience at our Public Engagement Masterclass. Run by Liz Minchin, award-winning journalist and senior editor at The Conversation, this practical workshop provides tailored training on how to effectively communicate your research to reach a broad audience. Designed for academics at all levels, including graduate researchers, the workshop teaches skills that will be valuable throughout your academic career from publishing in news media outlets, to tailoring research proposals and grant applications to non-specialist readers. You will receive personalised feedback and leave with the skills and knowledge to dramatically improve your chances of having work published in non-academic media outlets.

The Public Engagement Masterclass is a joint initiative of The Conversation and the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Melbourne. Further information and registrations:  http://melbourne-cshe.unimelb.edu.au/study/for-academic-staff/public-engagement-masterclass
