Feature articles

Articles offering comment, opinion and discussion on higher education issues may be submitted by email for consideration by the editor sections. Articles should provide the reader with thoughtful comment and critique.

Articles should be no more than 1600 words including a one sentence author biography.

The article should be accompanied by a relevant, high quality image. Images should be submitted as high resolution jpg attachments with captions and photographer identification. File names of attachments must match the caption/image.

Submissions are made to the Editor as word documents in single spaced 10 point Times New Roman font, left justified with 6pt paragraph space, prepared according to the fifth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). Up to three citations and may be included if critical to the integrity of the article. Links to further reading and/or references are preferred over references. These are included in the word count.

Dot points should not be used. Tables and/or figures are accepted only if critical to the article. Quotations, if included, must be reproduced accurately and attribution given.

  • Use italics for titles of books, articles, chapter titles, etc.
  • Use double quotation marks to set off a direct (word-for-word) quotation.
  • Use single quotation marks for quotations within quotations.
  • Use single quotation marks for technical terms, terms used in an unusual way, or other expressions that vary from standard usage.

The editor has discretion to edit articles to fit the page layout. Authors may suggest a short title however the editor will make the final decision.

It is the responsibility of authors to ensure they have complied with any copyright and intellectual property requirements.

Showcase articles

Articles reporting on activities, research, events, programs and projects may be submitted by email for consideration by the editor. Showcase articles should provide the reader with reflections, suggestions, ideas, considerations that arise from the event, activity, program or project.

Showcase articles should be no more than 800 words including a one sentence author biography.

Articles should be accompanied by a relevant, high quality image. Images should be submitted as high resolution jpg attachments with captions and photographer identification. File names of attachments must match the caption and image.

Citations, tables and/or figures are not included in a showcase article. A maximum of three links to further reading and/or references may be included separate to the text, and these should be included in the word count.
